Iranian movie ‘Kupal’ wins award at the Berkeley Video & Film Festival in the US.

Iranian movie ‘Kupal’ has won an award at the Berkeley Video & Film Festival in the US.

The film won the best foreign film award at the 26th edition of the American festival.

Directed by Kazem Mollaie, ‘Kupal’ was Asia’s only representative which managed to win the award during the closing ceremony.

‘Kupal’ narrates the story of Dr. Ahmad Kupal, who is a taxidermist hunter, when he faces a challenge just before the New Year.

The main cast in 'Kupal' is Levon Haftvan and a smart dog named Sharon plays a key role in the movie.

Nazanin Farahani, Pourya Rahimi-Sam, and Hossein Shamsabadi are among the notable cast of Mollaie’s flick.

Mollaie’s feature film debut attended the competitive section of Fajr Film Festival in February and won the best feature award at the ‘Around’ Film Festival in Amsterdam recently.

Founded by award winning independent filmmakers who were involved with the "independent underground cinema revolution" in the early and mid-1960's, The Berkeley Video + Film Festival was created in 1990 to provide a venue for independent film and videomakers creating works that challenge and confront our notions of "Electronic Cinema."
